		<description>Although this certainly won&#039;t help everyone, if you&#039;re using Hibernate, you can use the Joda Time Hibernate library to store timezone and datetime info in two separate columns for a single EJB property.  These are automatically marshalled and unmarshalled into Joda Time DateTime objects.  This means that the actual timezone of the DB should be a non-issue.</description>

		<description>Good post.  And very timely considering I was just struggling with this very issue at work.  I wish Amazon would allow us to set the RDS machine time zone.  Having to think about this while developing an application or while interacting with the database directly is error-prone.  I&#039;m really enjoying the posts on this blog.  Keep &#039;em coming!
